I've been studying yoga since 1977. From my first class, I was touched by its power to soothe a stressed mind and revitalize my body. I have studied a variety of styles and approaches to yoga throughout the years and have taught yoga continuously since 1985. My first teaching certificate was earned in 1988 through the Kripalu Center in Lenox Massachusetts. In 1996, I made yoga my full time profession and I also began studying Svaroopa® yoga. I earned my teaching certificate from Master Yoga Teaching Institute in 2000. I am also certified in Embodyment® and Svaroopa® Yoga Therapy, which are deeper applications of the principles of spinal release.
I continue to train in advanced teaching courses as well as learn through training others. I am part of the teaching team for Master Yoga Teaching Institute, serving as a teacher for their Foundations of Svaroopa® yoga Course.
Additional studies have included Polarity Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy and Rebirthing. I hold a BS in human services and MS in audiology. I worked in the professions of social service, then audiology for a combined 20 years.
Teaching is a family tradition and I have embraced many opportunities to expand my own learning through sharing it with others. These include staff positions with Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, Inc., Massage Arts Center of Philadelphia, and area hospitals and medical offices when I was an audiologist.
My primary focus has always been yoga. Other studies and modalities have evolved around my commitment to yoga. It is the ultimate system of self-care and human evolution toward our highest potential.
My students are a gift to my own learning process - providing a constant source of inspiration and community. It is my intention to share the best of the yogic tradition to those who come to my classes and to serve the community at large through yoga's power to transform and heal.
